Get my free quote →Wondering what the EV charger installation process actually looks like from the moment you inquire to the moment you plug in your car? You’re not alone — for most Filipino EV owners, this is their first time having any major electrical work done at home, and not knowing what to expect is half the stress. So let’s fix that. Here’s the entire process as we run it at MOEV Solutions, step by step, including how long each stage takes and what you need to prepare (spoiler: very little).
Step 1: Inquiry
It starts with a message. You can reach us through our contact page, email inquire@moev.ph, or WhatsApp +63 993 158 1936. Tell us the basics: what EV you drive (or are about to buy), where you live, and where you plan to park and charge.
At this stage we’ll usually ask a few quick questions — house or condo, roughly how far your parking is from your electrical panel, whether the spot is covered or open-air. A few photos of your panel and parking area help a lot, but they’re optional. No commitment, no fees.
Step 2: Free Site Assessment
This is the most important step in the whole process, and it’s free. A member of our team visits your home to check everything that affects your installation:
- Your electrical panel’s capacity and spare breaker slots
- The cable route and distance from panel to parking
- The wall or mounting surface for the charger
- Earthing/grounding condition
- Your household load profile — what else is drawing kuryente at night
Why does this matter so much? Because every honest quote depends on it. Skipping the assessment is how homeowners end up with mid-job surprises and “additional charges po” texts. We’ve written a full breakdown of what happens during a site assessment if you want the details.
Step 3: Your Quote
Within a few days of the assessment, you get a complete written quote. For a standard installation, expect quoted after a free site assessment covering labor and standard materials — the charger unit itself is priced separately, and we can supply one or install a unit you already own (like the wall charger that came with your BYD).
If your site needs more — a panel upgrade, a long cable run, condo admin coordination — the quote spells that out clearly, with no vague line items. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying for and why. For a deeper look at what moves the number up or down, see our guide to installation cost factors.
Step 4: Scheduling
Once you approve the quote, we schedule the installation at your convenience. For homes, that’s straightforward. For condos, we coordinate with your building admin on work permits, contractor requirements, and allowed working hours — we handle the paperwork legwork so you don’t have to chase the admin office yourself.
We’ll also confirm your charger unit is on hand (or arrange supply) so installation day has zero waiting around.
Step 5: Installation Day
Here’s what actually happens when the team arrives:
- Walkthrough and confirmation. We review the plan with you — charger location, cable route, breaker position — before touching anything.
- Power-down and panel work. We install a dedicated breaker and RCD protection in your panel. Power to affected circuits is off during this stage, typically briefly.
- Cable run. PEC-compliant wiring runs through proper conduit from the panel to the charger location — surface-mounted, embedded, or weatherproofed as your site requires.
- Mounting the charger. The unit goes up at the agreed height and position, sealed and secured. (Curious about placement? We covered it in where to mount your EV wall charger.)
- Connections and tidy-up. Everything gets terminated, labeled, and cleaned up. No dangling wires, no debris.
How long does it take? A standard installation is typically finished in half a day. Complex jobs — long runs, panel upgrades, condo installs — can take longer, but you’ll know that in advance from the assessment, hindi surprise.
Step 6: Commissioning and Safety Testing
We don’t consider a charger installed until it’s tested. Commissioning includes verifying the earthing, testing the RCD protection actually trips as designed, checking connections under load, and running a real charging session with your car (or a tester if your car isn’t home yet). Only when everything passes do we sign off.
This step is a big part of the difference between a full-scope installation and a bare-bones one. A charger that powers on isn’t the same as a charger that’s proven safe under a continuous 7kW load, diba?
Step 7: Handover and Aftercare
Before we leave, we walk you through your new setup: how to start and stop charging, what the indicator lights mean, how to use the app if you chose a smart unit, and what to do (and who to call) if anything ever seems off.
And that’s not goodbye. After-sales support is part of the package — if you have questions next week or next year, you have our number. Chargers are long-term equipment; the relationship should be too.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the whole process take from inquiry to charging?
The installation itself is typically half a day. End to end — inquiry, assessment, quote, scheduling — most straightforward projects wrap up within a couple of weeks, depending mostly on your schedule and (for condos) admin approvals.
Do I need to be home during the installation?
We recommend it, at least at the start and end — for the walkthrough and the handover. Someone you trust can stand in if needed.
Will my power be out the whole day?
No. Power interruption is limited to the panel work stage and is typically brief. The rest of the job doesn’t require your whole house to be dark.
What if my site turns out to be complicated?
That’s exactly what the free assessment catches before you commit. Complex jobs get a clear, itemized quote — you decide with full information, never mid-installation.
